The isle of the eyed colored

Today we are gonna examine a quite amazing logic riddle. It says:

In a little island in the pacific ocean lives a tribe. This tribe has certain traditions and religious beliefs. Currently in this tribe there are 200 inhabitants. 100 have blue eyes and 100 have brown eyes. The inhabitants are not aware of this statistic though each one can see the color of the eyes of the other 199 members.

One of the traditions they have says that they are not allowed to know the color of their own eyes. If a member somehow knows the color of his eyes then he has to commit suicide the very next day in the middle of the square of the village so that every everyone of the tribe sees it. The members of the tribe are highly logical and devout to their traditions and are aware that each member is logical and devout (… and so on).

One day a blue-eyed foreigner arrives to the island and is hosted by the tribe. After some days living with them he wants to thank the tribe for the hospitality. The foreigner without knowing the traditions of the tribe says to all of them:

芦It is so weird to see someone with the same color of eyes as me in this part of the world禄

What effect does this sentence has (if any) in the tribe?

Let me know in the comments what do you think is the outcome 馃檪

Stay tuned for the solution…
